Born in the fascinating city of Trabzon, Nurcihan Velioglu began her artistic journey with a childhood full of diverse influences, laying the groundwork for a career that transcends traditional boundaries. Raised by art enthusiast parents, Nurcihan’s early exposure to museums and galleries fuelled her passion for visual storytelling that would determine her artistic trajectory.

In the rich tapestry of artistic influences, Nurcihan was inspired by classical masterpieces and contemporary works. Famous painters such as Goya, Vincent Van Gogh, Matisse, Hüseyin Avni Lifij, Client, Cezanne, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Klee left an indelible mark on her artistic soul. The combination of art history, literature, music and interdisciplinary research shaped his artistic vision by nurturing a multidimensional perspective.
The turning point in her artistic journey came when she discovered her deep passion for batik painting during her university years. Rooted in historical traditions, batik became the canvas on which Nurcihan would express her artistic brilliance. Under the counselling of Haydar Durmuş, she developed her technical skills, experimented with different mentors and learnt to incorporate her emotions into her art.

Nurcihan Velioglu emerges as a light in the field of batik painting, transcending the traditional to create a dialogue between tradition and innovation. Her art is a testament to the alchemy that occurs when the traditional meets the avant-garde, going beyond the batik surface to explore nuances of colour, form and emotion.

It is not only her technical skill that sets her apart, but also the depth with which she reflects the effects of painting in batik. His work becomes a harmonious combination of classical painting techniques and the intricate folds of batik art, resulting in a mesmerising visual poetry that speaks to the soul.

Inspired by nature and local themes, Nurcihan captures the essence of the land of her birth in her compositions featuring hazelnut gardens, tea pickers, fishermen and seagulls. Her subjects are not an end in themselves, but a means of artistic expression. She transforms objects with miniature effects that she delicately weaves into her art, stylising them and establishing a connection with traditional miniature art.

Everything beautiful motivates Nurcihan Velioglu in her creative process and she reflects a philosophy that celebrates beauty and aesthetic concern by incorporating the ever-changing colours of nature into her work. This commitment to contrasts and unspoilt nature has made her a distinctive voice in the art community.

Nurcihan Velioglu has actively contributed to the art community by participating in biennials as well as solo and group exhibitions. Her focus on beauty, her aesthetic concern and her dedication to reflecting the unspoilt nature of her surroundings have left an indelible mark on the art world.

Nurcihan Velioglu is currently working on upcoming exhibitions, producing new works and actively integrating the batik technique into her daily life. Beyond her own artistic endeavours, she generously shares her knowledge by giving lectures to those who are eager to discover the fascinating world of batik art.
